Gujarat riots were inhuman, says Sonia

NEW DELHI: In her first reaction to the sting operation conducted by Tehelka on the Gujarat riots, Congress president Sonia Gandhi said that the “recent expose revealed that what had happened in Gujarat was inhuman". She also made it clear that her party would not pull any punches in taking on those behind the communal carnage. “It's the primary responsibility of civil society and all Congressmen to fight this scourge,” she said at a function held to confer the Indira Gandhi National Integration Award. Sonia added, “If we don't fight these communal and anti social forces, they will one day become a huge danger to secular and democratic structure of the country".
